Founded:
Ennistymon Celtic Schoolboys Soccer Club was founded
in August 1998. It was formed in response to the highly successful summer camp
run by former Irish International Mick Kennedy. It was decided that from the
interest shown, an Under 11 team should be entered in the Clare Schoolboys
Soccer League.
For the 2002-2003 season the name of the
Schoolboys section has been changed to Moher Celtic
For th 2007 - 2008 season the name has been changed to Sporting Ennistymon
First Season:
The club enjoyed a very successful first season when
they finished seventh in their league and reached the Cup semi-finals before
eventually losing 2 - 1 to the league winners Lifford.
The club has been very active since it's
beginning and although it only has an Under 12 team this season it also trains
over 30 players between the ages of 8 - 11. In total Ennistymon Celtic caters
for over 60 players between the ages of 8 - 13 and has players coming from areas
such as Miltown Malbay, Fanore and Kilfenora as well as the local area of
Ennistymon/Lahinch/Liscannor.
The club also runs both Easter & Summer
camps, which see Mick Kennedy helping the lads to develop their skills.

County Honours:
The rise of soccer among the youth in the Ennistymon
area was reflected during the summer when three local youngsters Anthony Garrihy,
Martin McDonagh & Cobhan Phillipson represented Clare in the National U-13
Kennedy Cup competition. In addition Ennistymon Celtic manager Denis Hynes had
the honour of being assistant manager to the county team.
An Appeal for help:
In order for Ennistymon Celtic Schoolboys Soccer club
to survive and develop the club needs more adult involvement. Help would be
appreciated in the following areas: -
