Moneypoint AFC was formed in 1998 to promote soccer for school children in west Clare. We are the largest underage club in any sport in west Clare and growing all the time. The club is based at the ESB sports facilities in Kilrush town. Our teams are made up of boys and girls; approximately 180 registered players, from parishes all over west Clare such as Cooraclare, Doonbeg, Kilkee, Kilrush, Knockerra, Querrin and Quilty. This 2006/07 season we have entered teams at eight age levels, from under 8's, under10's, under 11's, under 13's, under14's, under 15 girls, under16's and under17's.

Many players from the club have gone on to represent County Clare in national competitions, namely; Declan McMahon, Eoin O'Kelly, Brian Egan, Daniel St. Ledger, Jamie Gilligan, Christopher Dixon, Rory O'Connor, Cathal Lyons, Conor King and Owen Tarrant. Eoin Fitzgerald who has also won an inter provincial title representing Munster.

The cost of running the club has increased dramatically with the phenomenal growth of number of teams participating in the Clare Schoolboys/Girls soccer leagues. We are very grateful to our sponsors. These include ESB Moneypoint station, Moneypoint sports & social club, Daly's service station Cooraclare, Kilrush credit union, Mace - Davey & Cussen Kilrush, and ESB Power Generation. 

We encourage all parents to get involved with the club. The number of teams we can register depend on the amount of adult help we get. We have a need for more adults to get involved with all teams, but especially at under 12 and for an under 13 girls team. There are lots of small ways in which you can help, from helping to put out corner flags to washing Jerseys. Just approach any of the managers or committee members and you will be made very welcome.

To all our players we wish you success, but most of all that you enjoy our sport in a safe and fun environment with lots of happy memories while you play soccer for Moneypoint AFC.
